As we move into the last month of the Australian racing season there has been a late rush of winners for a quartet of sires, who have all passed a milestone in posting a century of winners.
Top class sire Choisir had talented filly Embark flying the flag for him at Rosehill where she scored a tenacious win.
The Hawkes Racing trained filly broke through at her third run back from a spell after two close seconds and punters were well pleased to see her succeed as she was a well backed favourite.
Retained to race by Limerick Lane's Gerry Ryan, Embark has the smart record of three wins and six seconds from 12 starts with prizemoney of $214,455.
Embark is a half-sister to stakes-placed Carnero and Gratis being one of four winners from the Octagonal mare Matter.
Choisir (pictured) has sired five stakes-winners this season, Group II winner Celtic Dancer joined by Uxorious, Scorpio Queen, Psychologist and Kid Choisir.
Coolmore based Choisir has covered big, quality books of mares in recent years off the back of his multiple Group I winners Starspangledbanner and Sacred Choice, so there is reason to believe he is on an upswing and at a fee of $27,500 this spring is great value.
Magic Albert has been enjoying another great season during 2011/2012, his 100 winners coming from 219 runners giving him a seasonal winning strike rate of 45% winners to runners.
Within his total of winners have come five stakes-winners led by Group I winner Albert the Fat as well as Isopach, Straight Albert, Ron's Call and Tai Tai Tess.
Retired to stud in 2002, Yarraman Park based Magic Albert has proven a reliable source of winners and stakes performers, his outcross pedigree proving a great foil for a wide variety of mares.
It is the second year in a row Magic Albert has sired 100 plus winners, the benefits of covering larger and better quality books of mares now becoming increasingly apparent.
Magic Albert (pictured) stands this spring at a fee of $22,000.
Also cracking their tons were veteran sires Flying Spur, turning 20 this year and Sequalo, who turns 22, the pair standing at Arrowfield Stud and Lyndhurst Stud respectively.
