More Than Ready's 99th Brings Up 200 for Moody
Mark Smith - Saturday, 7 July 2012

Having his first run for champion trainer Peter Moody in Saturday's Listed All Victorian Sprint Final at Flemington, former Queenslander Ready To Rip came in for heavy support in the betting ring and he didn't disappoint.

Ridden by Luke Nolen, the son of More Than Ready fought on tenaciously to defeat Gossip Girl (Testa Rossa) by a half-neck with del Palio (Invincible Spirit) a short-head back in third.

Moody said the sustained plunge on the winner was not stable inspired.

"We came here very open-minded," Moody said.

"The market suggested otherwise, someone might drop a six-pack around because it wasn't the trainers or the stable or the connections that swallowed up the 10/1 I believe."

"He's a tradesman. He hasn't shown us anything brilliant at home. He goes about his work professionally and he's done a good job first time up the straight here."

It represented a significant milestone for the stable, bringing up the 200th winner of the season.

"That's a first for the stable (200 winners in a season). A big congratulations to all my owners and all my staff and all my jocks," Moody said. "It's a big team effort and something we are very proud of."

Making his first start since finishing second at the Sunshine Coast on February 5,Ready To Rip was a $55,000 purchase at the 2009 Magic Millions Yearling sale.

He is the ninth living foal of the Danehill mare Lady Langham who was sold in 2010 for $12,000 when carrying a colt by Mossman.

Bred by Gerry Harvey's Baramul Stud, Ready To Rip takes his overall record to 6 wins, 3 seconds and 1 third from 18 starts for earnings of $310,350.

A half-brother to four winners including the stakes-placed Sir Lago (Encosta de Lago), Ready To Rip is the latest stakes-winner from the family of champion matriarch Denise's Joy.

The family has already enjoyed enormous success with More Than Ready (USA) including the great mare More Joyous.

Ready To Rip becomes the 99th stakes-winner for More Than Ready (USA) who lines up for his 12th season at Vinery Stud this spring at a fee of $121,000.
