UK based farm Cheveley Park Stud, the
home of champion sire Pivotal, have purchased a majority share in Group 1
Darley July Cup winner Mayson.
The son of Invincible Spirit will continue to race in the colours of his breeder, David Armstrong and will also continue to be trained by Richard Fahey for the remainder of the year.
His next likely start may be the Group I Haydock Sprint Cup; however consideration will be given to the Group I Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes.
Mayson will take up stallion duties at Cheveley Park Stud in 2013, where he will stand alongside Pivotal, Kyllachy, Dutch Art, Medicean and Virtual.
Mayson was a dominant five length winner of the July Cup on his latest start and in doing so he put up the best performance over 6 furlongs, so far, this year, rating two pounds better than Black Caviar in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
Mayson is by the leading sire, Invincible Spirit, and is from an incredibly tough and speed laden family that includes Group 1 winner Singhalese and the 2 year old stakes winner Bathwick Bear.
Cheveley Park Stud Managing Director, Chris Richardson said "Mr and Mrs Thompson are delighted to secure the future of Mayson for British breeders; he compliments Cheveley Park Stud's highly proven and commercial portfolio of stallions in every way
Mayson is currently the highest rated, foremost sprinter of 2012, following his impressive win in the Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket."
David Armstrong commented, "I could not be more delighted that Mayson's future as a stallion will be at Cheveley Park Stud, an operation with whom my wife, Emma, and I have enjoyed doing business over the years, and we look forward to this continuing for many years to come."
Invincible Spirit (pictured) is already making a name for himself as a sire of sires, his Group I winning son Lawman, the sire of four stakes-winners including Royal Ascot Group I winner Most Improved with his oldest progeny just three year-olds.
In Australia, Invincible Spirit's high class sprinting son I Am Invincible stands at Yarraman Park and will have his first yearlings at the sales next year.
