After
the shock tragedy of Typhoon Tracy on Monday, we thought our readers could use
a happy foaling story and Kitchwin Hills have come to the rescue with just the
right pictures of a very happy first time mum who is well known to Sydney
racegoers.
Seven year-old Encosta de Lago mare Strawberry Field was a talented and
consistent performer over a number of seasons for the John O'Shea stable before
selling for $1million at the 2010 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale and
being transferred to Gerald Ryan.
Winner of the Listed VRC Herald Sun Stakes on Melbourne Cup day in 2009,
Strawberry Field was also stakes-placed on four occasions and was actually
fourth to the ill-fated Typhoon Tracy in the 2010 Group I STC Queen of the Turf
Stakes.
Retired to stud last spring and sent to More Than Ready (USA), Strawberry Field
followed the script and produced this beautiful filly four days ago and has
taken to motherhood like a duck to water as you can see in these glorious pictures
taken by Bo Ritson.
