This time last year one of the hottest three year-olds to step out in the early spring was the brilliant Gooree Stud homebred Smart Missile and while he is now getting ready to serve his first mares at Arrowfield Stud, Gooree do have a little something to look forward to following the arrival of his baby brother.
Born yesterday, this leggy fellow by Fastnet Rock is the fifth foal from
blue-blooded Comical Smile (USA), who has had three foals to race that are all
winners led by Group II winner Smart Missile and talented stakes-winner Kiss From
a Rose, who is also due to foal for the first time this spring to Fastnet Rock.
Comical Smile comes from an international family that has been highly
successful for Gooree, her dam Explosive (USA), having left a trio of
stakes-winners led by record breaking Group I winner Northern Meteor, whose
first two year-olds will hit tracks this season.
This noted stallion producing family, which traces back to world renowned
producer Rough Shod, has been nurtured with much success by Gooree and no doubt
they will be hoping this new colt can follow in the footsteps of Northern
Meteor and Smart Missile to become another sire prospect for the future one day.
