Hat-Trick for Destiny’s Kiss
Tara Madgwick - Wednesday, 22 August 2012

Well known owner Nick Moraitis was the feature story on TVN's Connections program this week when interviewed by Richard Haynes, his famous white and pink colours in the winner's circle at Sandown on Wednesday with a horse he bred himself in Destiny's Kiss.

The Robert Smerdon trained four year-old again relished the heavy conditions to score a determined neck victory in the Ratings 82 event over 1800 metres with five lengths back to the third horse.

Dwayne Dunn was in the saddle and has formed a good partnership with the son of Power of Destiny having ridden him to victory at his past three starts.

"He had nice cover in the run and showed a good turn of foot," Dunn said.

"The further the better now and I'm sure he'll run 2000 and beyond."

Destiny's Kiss (pictured Racepix Vic) has the impressive record of four wins and two placings from 10 starts with earnings just shy of $90,000.

A homebred for Nick Moraitis, Destiny's Kiss is one of two winners from stakes-placed Stravinsky (USA) mare A Fairy's Kiss, a sister to stakes-winner Miss Scarlatti from Group II winning Zabeel mare Crimson.

There is plenty of staying blood in this family which also features Group I VRC Derby winner Omnicorp, so it's no wonder Destiny's Kiss is expected to improve over more ground.

Destiny's Kiss is the best performer to date by the young Danehill (USA) stallion Power of Destiny, who is owned by Mr Moraitis and stands at Maquarie Stud under the care of David Baxter.

With his oldest progeny just four year-olds, Power of Destiny is the sire of 15 winners from just 32 starters.
