Epsom Goal for Moment of Change
Tara Madgwick - Saturday, 25 August 2012

Talented Peter Moody trained four year-old Moment of Change took advantage of a good track at Warwick Farm on Saturday to kick off his spring campaign with a stylish win in the Listed ATC Show County Quality.

Sent north from Melbourne in search of good ground, Moment of Change (pictured www.stevehart.com.au) travelled just behind the leaders for Peter Robl and kicked away in the straight to win the 1200 metre contest by more than a length.

"We didn't have a very good prep last time after striking wet tracks," stable representative Claire Cunningham said.

"The main goal is the Epsom (Handicap) and back home (Melbourne) there's the (Group I) Toorak Handicap and maybe even the Cox Plate if he keeps improving."

Winning rider Peter Robl was also impressed with the son of Cornerstone Stud based sire Barely a Moment.

"He relaxed beautifully and was strong through the line," Robl said. "I spoke to Luke Nolen the other day and he said he wouldn't sprint off the mark, he'd take 100 metres to get going.

"He's a very nice horse and he'll get better as he gets out in journey."

A $50,000 Magic Millions Perth purchase for Slade Bloodstock from the draft of Sovereign Thoroughbreds, Moment of Change is the first winner for Europium, a half-sister by Metal Storm (Fr) to stakes-winner Mr Diagnosis.

Moment of Change has won four of seven starts and $165,388 in prizemoney and is the second stakes-winner for Barely a Moment, who stands at Cornerstone Stud in South Australia at a fee of $4,950.

Europium was covered again by Barely a Moment last year so will produce a full sibling to Moment of Change this spring.
