Presented
in sparkling order at the annual Coolmore open day on Sunday, Choisir was in
the frame overnight in Ireland after posting a new stakes-winner in Three Sea
Captains.
The David Wachman trained colt was placed at his only three previous runs and
broke his maiden in style when taking out the Listed Curragh Stakes over five
furlongs by a neck under his own steam.
"He's always been a smart
horse and has showed plenty from day one," said Wachman.
"He got tired in his
first run at Naas, and I thought he'd win at Dundalk last weekend, but he was in the stalls for a long time
there and went to sleep. He won well today, [jockey] Wayne [Lordan] didn't have to hit him and
he has a bit of a future. He's a tough, hardy horse and he's very sound and straightforward. He is [entered] in some of the better
races towards the back end of the season, so we'll see how he
progresses."
Three Sea Captains is the first stakes-winner for La Tintoretta, a minor winner
by Desert Prince from Group I Haydock Sprint Cup winner Lavinia Fontana.
He becomes the 42nd stakes-winner for Choisir (pictured) , who stands
this spring at a fee of $27,500.
