2008 Golden Slipper
and Sires Produce winner Sebring is an early $1,65 favourite with Sportingbet
Australia to be the most successful first season sire of the 2012-13 season by individual winners.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said it's shaping up to be the best
crop of freshman sires since Fastnet Rock.
"The showdown between Sebring (pictured) and Northern Meteor will be an intriguing contest
as from all reports their progeny are cracking types and they were both early
runners on the track themselves," Sullivan said.
Northern Meteor is a $2.50 second pick while former smart 2yo Real Saga is a
$10 third favourite and comes in to play due to the fact most of his progeny
will race in Queensland.
"You can't discount Murtajill either because while he hasn't got as many foals
on the ground as the two favourites, as a Patinack stallion he would have been
sent to plenty of good mares and Patinack did win last season with Husson,"
Sullivan said.
"Henrythenavigator and Duke Of Marmalade were both champion racehorses in their
own right however, it has been a while since an UK Stallion produced early
running 2yo's. Look for their progeny later in the season."
