and Jenny Moodie's Contract Racing operation is rarely without a promising
horse at this time of year, so when they produce a six length debut winner at Wangaratta
on Sunday we naturally want to know more.
Prepared by Matt Ellerton and Simon Zahra, three year-old Artie Schiller (USA)
gelding Melting Pot jumped fast from his outside gate and travelled straight
across to lead, controlling the race throughout.
Melting Pot (pictured Racepix Vic) turned for home in front and with a furlong to run dropped his
rivals cold to win the 1000 metre dash by six lengths with Damian Lane easing
him down on the line.
Melting Pot is the second winner for Espalita, a half-sister to Group III
winner Razor Blade, the dam of Group II winner Sunburnt Land and stakes-winner
and Group I placed Curtana.
Melting Pot is another smart winner for last season's leading second crop sire
Artie Schiller, who stands at Emirates Park in Victoria.
Contract Racing have already had a result with Artie Schiller, having bred his handy
stakes-winning filly Secret Liaison and in Melting Pot may have another bright
prospect.
