Winning his third
start in a row at the opening meeting in Hong Kong on Sunday was a timely
reminder by Scarlet Camellia that his sire is about to start his Australian
stud career and will be paraded for the public on Saturday next September 15th.
Finishing the previous Hong Kong season with two wins over 1600m, for his
return Scarlet Camellia came back to 1400m and won comfortably by ¾ of a length
under Australian jockey Zac Purton.
The 5 year old is from the third crop of Spartacus(pictured) , the Irish bred son of
Danehill who shuttled between Ireland and New Zealand and has produced over 150
winners including 6 Stakes winners and was himself a multiple Group 1 winner,
as a 2 year old winning the Irish Phoenix Stakes over the Golden Slipper
distance of 6 furlongs.
He will stand his first Australian season this year at Cangon Stud Farm near
Dungog in NSW and will feature as part of their Open Day and Stallion Parade on
Saturday along with the proven sire Nothing Leica Dane, and young sires
Recapitalize and Sea Battle.
