This
blue-blooded daughter of champion sire Redoute's Choice kicked off her career
with a stylish win at Kilmore on Friday carrying the colours of John
Camilleri's Fairway Thoroughbreds.
Prepared by Peter Moody and ridden by Luke Nolen, A Time for Julia was sent out
favourite for the 1200 metre maiden and got the job done in style, leading for
most of the race and forging clear to win by a couple of lengths.
"She has a fantastic pedigree so it's important for her to win, but she has
nice ability and will take a lot of improvement from today," said Nolen.
Foaled and raised at Coolmore for Fairway Thoroughbreds, A Time for Julia is
the eighth winner for Group III winning Jade Hunter (USA) mare Procrastinate,
who has done an outstanding job at stud.
Purchased for $660,000 by BBA Ireland on behalf of Fairway Thoroughbreds at the
2007 Inglis Broodmare Sale, Procrastinate is the dam of multiple Group I winner
and Champion South African filly Laisserfaire, stakes-winners Time Thief, Foreplay
and Personify as well as Trephina, the dam of Group winners Centennial Park and
Ballack.
Another promising three year-old for Redoute's Choice(pictured), A Time for Julia certainly does have that fantastic pedigree and fortunately
has some ability as well.
"We've always thought a bit of her, but she had some shin-soreness issues, so I
just wanted to wait with her," said Peter Moody.
"She's right to go now, so we'll press on for the time being."
Fairway Thoroughbreds sold an Encosta de Lago colt from the now 22 year-old
Procrastinate at Inglis Easter this year under the Coolmore banner for $240,000
to Lionel Cohen and have a yearling colt to come by Fastnet Rock.
