Former
Sydney based Darley galloper Scarf has been racing consistently in the Northern
Hemisphere this year and broke through for his first stakes win overnight in
the UK landing the Listed Dubai Duty Free Cup at Newbury.
Now trained by Saeed bin Suroor and ridden by Frankie Dettori, Scarf (pictured) took the
seven furlong contest by a neck to become the first stakes-winner for champion sire
Lonhro in Europe.
Already a stakes-winner in Australia where he won the Listed ATC Winter Stakes,
Scarf has the overall record of nine wins from 24 starts.
He is one of four winners from the Quest for Fame (GB) mare Muffle and is a
three-quarter brother-in-blood to stakes-winning mare Dysphonia, who is also
campaigning in Europe for Darley where she has been stakes-placed.
Muffle was onsold by Darley in 2009 for just $5,500 to Adour Stud and Stables.
Lonhro stands this spring at Darley at a fee of $110,000.
