As an unabashed fan of Pentire from the days his booming finish carried him to victory in the likes of the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes, carrying the colours of Moller Racing for trainer Geoff Wragg, it's made it even more enjoyable to witness his success as a foundation stallion for Rich Hill Stud.
Racing in
Australia and New Zealand on Saturday added another chapter to his wonderful achievements.
His son Mufhasa becoming one of those rare racehorses to earn ten Group 1's following his victory in Windsor Park Plate at Hastings.
The reigning NZ Horse Of The Year is now an 8yo however trainer Stephen McKee said he is on track to return to Melbourne to defend his crown in the Toorak Handicap (G1).
While Mufhasa was basking in the glory of his momentous achievement, across the Tasman at Royal Randwick, Pentire was stamping his influence on the Group 1George Main Stakes.
The winner,Shoot Out, a son of High Chaparral out of the Pentire mare Pentamerous, who was all out to hold off his gutsy stablemate Rangirangdoo, a dual Group 1 winning son of Pentire who comes from the same crop as Mufhasa.
That's
testament to the soundness of the stock of Pentire. They are also remarkably
versatile.
The son of Be My Guest out of the Mill Reef mare Gull Nook has sired Group 1 winners from 1200 metres to 3,200 metres.
