He
might be a travelling companion for star colt Pierro, but the Gai Waterhouse trained
Tribal Rock can more than pay his way in Melbourne judging by his resounding first
up victory at Sale on Wednesday.
A homebred for Stuart Ramsey's Turangga Farm, four year-old Rock of Gibraltar
(IRE) gelding Tribal Rock dished out a galloping lesson to his rivals in the
Benchmark 78 event over 1419 metres.
He powered clear for Vlad Duric to win by four lengths, his overall record now
four wins and a third from six starts with prizemoney in excess of $86,000.
Tribal Rock is a half-brother to smart stakes-winning sprinter Panipique and is
one of three winners from Group III winner Our Quivira, who is due to foal to
Redoute's Choice.
Tribal Rock is in the right stable as Gai Waterhouse has enjoyed a good deal of
success with the progeny of his sire Rock of Gibraltar (IRE)(pictured), most notably with
horses such as Rock Kingdom, Rockwood and Sliding Cube.
