Bay, Beautiful and Coming to a Sale Near You
Tara Madgwick - Thursday, 27 September 2012

"You send him a weak, little chestnut mare and he gives you a big, strong bay foal."

These are the words of Harry Mitchell and they relate to the progeny of Yarraman Park's young sire I Am Invincible(pictured) , whose stock have made him one of the most talked about young stallions in the Hunter Valley.

A Group III winning and Group I placed sprinter by champion European sire Invincible Spirit (IRE), I Am Invincible was identified early as a stallion talent by the Mitchell family following a brilliant debut win as a juvenile.

He went on to match strides with some of the best sprinters in the land and was second to the great Takeover Target in the Group I SAJC Goodwood Handicap.

His sire Invincible Spirit has gone from strength to strength in Europe where he has one of the best mares in training in Moonlight Cloud and his female family which features Mamzelle Pedrille has also continued to thrive with unbeaten filly Here de Princess set to contest the Listed ATC Reginald Allen Quality this weekend.

"He had everything we like to see in a stallion in terms of ability, pedigree and good looks, which he is quite obviously passing on to his stock," Mitchell said.

"He's bay dominant and he really upgrades his mares. It's amazing how consistent he is and now we're seeing it for the second year with this new crop of foals."

New arrivals for I Am Invincible this spring include:

Colt I Am Invincible x Orange Marmalade (NZ)

Colt I Am Invincible x Sunset Boulevard

Filly I Am Invincible x Dainty Deb

Colt I Am Invincible x Zelady

Colt I Am Invincible x Flickering Fire

The first crop of I Am Invincible foals are now yearlings and for a stallion that stands at a modest fee of $11,000 they are expected to make a splash at the 2013 Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast in January.

"The Magic Millions boys have been very enthusiastic about them when they've been here on inspections and are keen to take them for their sale," Mitchell said.

"They have a history of targeting the progeny of first season sires based on type and it's flattering they have such a good opinion of I Am Invincible."

Magic Millions expect to catalogue around 20 I Am Invincible yearlings for their January sale with 15 of those in the premium first four sessions and a further 20 plus youngsters will be headed for the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney
