Friday's annual Spring Thoroughbred Sale at Newmarket generated good competition from a widespread buying bench, with just shy of $626,000 changing hands. At sale end, 98 horses had been sold at a clearance rate of 92%, for a gross tally of $625,750.
Darley brought a strong draft of 14 horses to the sale and provided the day's two highest priced lots.
The sale was topped by Whitlam, who after strong competition from five different parties fetched $38,000. Whitlam was purchased by Inglis as Agent on behalf of a Victorian based client. Whitlam is a lightly raced, very well performed Melbourne galloper.
Spainbrought equal second highest bid of the day going for $28,000 to a Victorian based client also. Spain is a full brother to Darley's resident first crop stallion Denman.

Inglis' next mixed thoroughbred bloodstock sales will be conducted in December. The Sydney Summer Thoroughbred Sale on Friday 7 December and Melbourne December Thoroughbred Sale on Friday 14 December.
