Juvenile
stakes racing kicks off in Sydney this Saturday with the Listed ATC Breeders
Plate and Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick, with Sale Mail for these races available
here.
An obvious standout in the Gimcrack from the early trials has been the Gai Waterhouse
trained More Than Ready (USA) filly Sugar Rush(pictured as a yearling) , who has won both of her public outings
in good style.
At $600,000, the Strawberry Hill bred bay was the top priced filly from Magic
Millions this year and is bred to go fast being from former brilliant juvenile
Sugar Babe, who is by top two year-old sire Exceed and Excel.
The Darley based sire has two runners here as well including blue-blooded
Darley homebred Guelph, who is closely related to champion two year-old Sepoy
being from Group I winner Camarilla.
Also bred in the purple is Emirates Park homebred Shahad, a Fastnet Rock filly
from multiple Group I winner Shamekha. Trained by Gai Waterhouse, who also put
the polish on her mother, Shahad trialled well at her only outing.
