Remarkable broodmare Dane
Belltar was making headlines at the weekend after achieving an amazing feat in
having three of her foals win on metropolitan tracks, Tanby and Fawkner scoring
stakes victories at Flemington and Viking Star saluting at Morphettville – now
we can show you her latest foal and the first filly she has produced.
Tanby, Fawkner and Viking Star were all sold by leading South Australian
nursery Mill Park Stud for their breeder Steve Bennetts.
Mr Bennetts raced Dane Belltar with much success before retiring her to stud in
2005 and the star producer has been based at Mill Park ever since.
"She's been an outstanding mare and we've been lucky enough to have bred the
last few foals from her in partnership with Mr Bennetts," said Chris Watson of
Mill Park Stud.
"She is a big grey mare with that real 'Oaks filly' look about her, plenty of
size, scope and length of leg which she passes on to her foals.
"Temperament also has a lot to do with it and she's such a relaxed, laid back
personality, which again she passes on to her offspring.
"It's that combination of temperament and athleticism that have made her
progeny so successful."

After producing four colts that are all winners from 2006 to 2009, Dane Belltar
missed in 2010 then slipped her foal in 2011, but the daughter of Danewin produced
this lovely filly (pictured above and left)on August 31 this year by Starcraft and has now been covered
by New Approach (IRE).
"She's in Victoria at the moment at Danny and Sarina Swain's property Glenelg
Park near Euroa so she could go to New Approach," Watson said.
"He appeals as a stallion that will really suit her and being a son of Galileo,
it's a similar mating to Tanby, who is also by Galileo."
