Sir Percy (GB) sired his first New Zealand-bred winner today when two-year-old That's Where It Is was successful at Waimate.
The juvenile flew home to take top honours for Matamata trainers Paul and Kris Shailer, who also operate a stable at Awapuni.
The colt is now likely to make his next appearance at Riccarton and will then be spelled with the Karaka Million in mind.
The feature Ellerslie event was won last year by Ockham's Razor (Any Suggestion), who was bred and sold by Rich Hill Stud.
They stood the Gr.1 Dewhurst Stakes and Gr.1 English Derby winner Sir Percy (pictured) in 2009, 2010 and 2011, but this season didn't shuttle from his Lanwades Stud base at Newmarket in England.
Also bred by Rich Hill, That's Where It Is was sold at Karaka earlier this year.
"He was a nice yearling, a bit small but he looked like he'd make a two-year-old," studmaster John Thompson said.
They have retained a racing interest in the youngster, as has co-breeder Paul Merton, of Auckland.
Sir Percy also opened his account in Hong Kong on Sunday night when the Northern Hemisphere-bred Percy Jackson was successful at Sha Tin over 1600 metres in the hands of champion jockey Douglas Whyte.
The four-year-old was a two-time winner in England and was stakes placed in Germany.
