Segenhoe Stud

Offering clients both permanent and seasonal agistment, Segenhoe Stud is a specialised broodmare farm that was purpose built from the ground up in 1998, on virgin horse country. The property enjoys approximately 10km of Hunter River frontage, allowing ample irrigation to sustain the high-quality pasture of the property.

Segenhoe also agists all other stock for its clients with weanling and yearling agistment, which can lead into sale prep, while we have also recently developed a 120-acre spelling and pre-trainer complex on the property to cater for the further needs of our clients? racehorses.

Known as the Segenhoe Spelling Complex, the new part of the farm offers a diverse selection of spelling paddocks that include large 20-acre hilly paddocks with natural pasture ideal for horses that need time to mature.

Large irrigated paddocks with improved pasture is available for horses to roam around, while smaller one-to two-acre irrigated yards for horses that need individual care have also been developed.

The 12 fully irrigated paddocks with walk-in stables are ideal for colts that may need to be stabled on their own, while all paddocks have tree-lined lanes for shelter and quarantine purposes. A purpose-built undulating 1200m irrigated grass exercise track has also been constructed, allowing for specific regimes in the pre-training process to be worked into a program for each individual horse.

Having also recently acquired a 538-acre area known as the Glenbawn block, this part of Segenhoe consists of a very good mix of alluvial soils and undulating hill country. This area of the property is divided by the Hunter River and we have access to the crystal-clear water that flows through it. Once fencing on the eastern portion of the Glenbawn block is completed, this will become the main area for all our broodmares and foals.
