Social Distancing the Horse!

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday May 5

It was always going to happen, a horse called Social Distancing, and we saw her in action at the Randwick trials on Tuesday morning.

A two year-old Sebring filly prepared by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Social Distancing observed the rules of her naming sitting wide throughout and was strong to the line as the widest runner to post a head victory in the 742 metre scamper.

It was her first public outing and showed a good deal of promise for the future.

Passed in at Inglis Easter and retained to race by her US based breeder Mt Brilliant Farm, Social Distancing is a half-sister to Group I placed stakes-winner The Virginian from blue-blooded import Redwood Dancer (USA).

Social Distancing as a yearlingRedwood Dancer was bought by Marette Farrell as agent for Mt Brilliant Farm at the 2017 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $650,000 when carrying Social Distancing.

After producing the filly, she was then sent back to North America and has since had a filly by Tapit in 2019 and a filly by Uncle Mo this year so is certainly going to the elite stallions as befits a mare of her pedigree.

Redwood Dancer is an unraced Forestry daughter of Group II winner Fiery Pursuit from the family of Champion Fillies Flanders and Surfside as well as Champion European 2YO Air Force Blue.

From her time at stud in Australia, Redwood Dancer has left three foals to race and all are winners highlighted by The Virginian with Social Distancing her fourth and final foal born in this country.
