Deep Field 2YO Winner Excites Ben Hayes

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 1

Deep Field unleashed an impressive two year-old winner at Sandown on Wednesday with Lindsay Park trained colt Aysar opening up to win by three lengths.

Third on debut last month at Mornington when he did a few things wrong, Aysar showed good improvement from that outing to break the ice in style when stepped out to 1300 metres.

“He lived up to expectations today and learnt a lot from his last run,” said co-trainer Ben Hayes.

“He was very professional and hit the line hard, so is an exciting horse going forward.

“He’s a lovely lengthy horse and I think when we get him out to a trip you’ll see the best of him, 1400 to a mile.

“I think you’ll see him next in the new season as a three year-old.”

A $260,000 Magic Millions purchase for Shadwell from the Torryburn Stud draft, Aysar is the first foal of Miss Interiors, a winning half-sister by Flying Spur to dual Group I winner Russian Revolution and Group III winner Turbo Miss.

Aysar as a yearling

Miss Interiors was bought by Belmont Bloodstock on behalf of Torryburn Stud at the 2017 Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $625,000 when carrying Aysar.

Her next foal, an I Am Invincible colt, made $875,000 at Inglis Easter earlier this year when bought by Tom Magnier.

Miss Interiors has a weanling colt by Capitalist and is in foal to Dundeel.

Aysar is the 79th winner this season for Newgate Farm’s Deep Field, who stands at a fee of $55,000 this spring.
