Another Promising Colt for Aquis

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday September 9

Spoilt for choice this spring in the colts department, Aquis share in the ownership of another promising Redoute’s Choice colt in Cadenabbia, who broke his maiden at Canterbury on Wednesday in their familiar aqua colours.

Trained by Chris Waller, Cadenabbia was second beaten a long head on debut last month and was sent out favourite for this 1550 m maiden for three and four year-olds.

He did everything right for James McDonaldn to score a half length win.

“He’s a lovely colt that will be better with a prep under his belt and he needs to furnish a bit more,” said McDonald.

“I think he’ll be a real autumn colt, but he’s doing a good job now.”

An $800,000 Karaka Book 1 purchase for Aquis Farm / Bester Bloodstock from the Cambridge Stud draft, Cadenabbia runs for a partnership that also includes Kia Ora Stud, who now co-own Golden Slipper winner Farnan with Aquis.

Cadenabbia was an $800,000 Karaka Book 1 purchase

Bred in partnership by David Brideoake and Cambridge Stud’s Brendan and Jo Lindsay, Cadenabbia is the first foal of Group I winner Griante, who was bred and trained by Brideoake.

She has a yearling filly by Pierro and has foaled this spring producing a colt by Dundeel.
