Two Impressive Winners for Deep Field

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday September 9

Entered for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas, Deep Field colt Aysar made a big impression when bolting in at Sandown back in July and returned to the same venue on Wednesday for his spring return.

The Lindsay Park prepared colt lugged 61kg to a long neck victory in the 1300m contest as a heavily backed favourite and will derive a lot of benefit from the run.

He got to the front a long way out and wanted to stargaze, but he got the job done and he’s only 85% fit, so he’s going to take a lot of improvement,” said co-trainer Ben Hayes.

“The Guineas Prelude next is the plan and I think he deserves a shot in the deep end as he’s an exciting horse going forward.”

A $260,000 Magic Millions purchase for Shadwell from the Torryburn Stud draft, Aysar has two wins and a third from just three starts with over $50,000 in prizemoney.

Bred by Torrbyburn Stud, he is the first foal of Miss Interiors, a winning half-sister by Flying Spur to dual Group I winner Russian Revolution and Group III winner Turbo Miss.

Miss Interiors was bought by Belmont Bloodstock on behalf of Torryburn Stud at the 2017 Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $625,000 when carrying Aysar.

Her next foal, an I Am Invincible colt, made $875,000 at Inglis Easter earlier this year when bought by Tom Magnier.

Miss Interiors has a yearling colt by Capitalist to follow.

Deep Field made it a winning double when  the Mark Newnham trained Big Parade bolted in at Canterbury as a hot favourite.

The progressive four year-old has three wins and two seconds from seven starts and looks set for an outstanding campaign.

Deep Field set a new Australian record for individual winners by a second crop sire last season and has gone right on with the job since August 1.

Completely free of Danehill blood, the son of Northern Meteor stands at Newgate Farm a fee of $55,000 this spring.
