Black and Gold Wins Listed Ladies Cup

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 11

Champion trainer Chris Waller has a happy knack for keeping horses happy and sound for a long time and that talent was highlighted at Hawkesbury on Wednesday when seven year-old Sebring gelding Black on Gold took out the Listed Ladies Day Cup (1600m).

Fit and ready to fire at his first run back from a spell, Black on Gold was easy in the market, powering home along the inside to snatch a half length win.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Bylong Park draft for B K Racing & Breeding P/L, Black on Gold has the overall record of eight wins and nine placings from 44 starts with prizemoney nearing $850,000.

Bred and sold by Bylong Park, Black on Gold is the best of three winners from Fools Gold, a three-quarter sister by Commands to Group I winner and $2.3million earner Drieftontein, now at stud in Japan.

Fools Gold has a yearling filly by Sebring to follow.

Black on Gold is the 64th stake-s winner for Widden stud’s much missed Sebring, whose final yearlings will be offered in 2021.
