"The stud, Danny Rolston and myself went through the catalogue to find mares with suitable pedigrees for Mongolian Khan," NZB Managing Director Andrew Seabrook said.

"Steve Till of Windsor Park and Danny then went over and inspected 125 of them and whittled that down and I just turned up and did the bidding."

The end result was 14 mares purchased for $A1.94 million at an average of $A138,571 with a highest-priced acquisition of $A320,000.

The top lot for the Mongolian Khan at Windsor Park Stud Syndicate was Champagne Shisha, a five-time winner by Dehere bought out of Victoria's Two Bays Farm.]

The syndicate's second top lot was for $A250,000 for Herberina, a half-sister by Street Cry to the multiple Group One winners Niconero and Nicconi, out of the Widden Stud consignment. She has been served by Written Tycoon.

A significant purchase with close New Zealand ties is the Stratum mare Trustam, who was secured for $A220,000 from Willow Park Stud's draft.
