Flemington Debut Winner for Extreme Choice

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 9

Newgate Farm’s promising young sire Extreme Choice posted his third winner at Flemington on Saturday when talented gelding Abseiler powered to a stylish debut victory bringing a super pedigree update for his Magic Millions consigned full sister.

Trained by Lloyd Kennewell, Abseiler was easy in the market but chimed in with a big run down the outside under Craig Newitt to win the 1000m scamper running away by a length.

ewitt was the regular rider for his sire Extreme Choice and won the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes and the Group I MVRC Moir Stakes on the brilliantly fast son of Not a Single Doubt.

“He’s inherited his (Extreme Choice) size as he’s not real big, but he has a big ticker and it’s been a long time since I’ve ridden a two year-old so professional. He was going to win a long way out,” said Newitt.

“I’m tipping he has a pretty bright future ahead of him.”

A $70,000 Magic Millions Perth Yearling purchase from the Western Breeders Alliance draft for Kennewell Racing/Group 1 Bloodstock, Abseiler is the first foal of Wanted Lady, a half-sister by Wanted to stakes-winner Missy Cummings, the dam of Group II winner Mizzy.

The second foal of Wanted Lady is a filly by Extreme Choice that will be offered by Attunga Stud as Lot 943 and she has a filly foal to follow by another of the Newgate sires in Winning Rupert.

Lot 943 is a full sister to Abseiler.

Abseiler is the third winner for Extreme Choice, who is also the sire of smart winners Tiger of Malay and NZ based Palamos as well as stakes-placed Extreme Warrior.
