First Stakes-Winner for Declaration of War

War Front's top class Group I winning son Declaration of War (USA) will have his first Australian runners in the new season and sired his first stakes-winner overnight in Ireland with promising filly Actress taking out the Group III Anglesy Stakes at The Curragh.

The Aidan O'Brien trained filly forged clear to score a comfortable length and three-quarter win in the six furlong sprint.

Declaration of WarStakes-placed twice previously, Actress has been a busy and successful filly this year with two wins and three placings from six starts.

"I thought 5f was too sharp for her at Tipperary but I was also unsure as to whether she would stay here. When I saw Kevin give his fella a dig I knew I had him covered and then Colm's horse edged over to his left. She was impressive and I only gave her one tap," said winning rider Seamie Heffernan.

From US Group II winner Nasty Storm, Actress is the first stakes-winner for War Front's Group I winning son Declaration of War, who stood for two seasons at Coolmore Australia and is currently at their Kentucky base.

Declaration of War had 50 yearlings sell here this year for up to $230,000.
