Metro Success for Vancouver Colt

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 28

Promising Vancouver colt Overpass won the $30,000 Silver Apple (1000m) at Orange at his previous start and brought that good form into the city for astute Warwick Farm trainer Bjorn Baker to score a stylish win at his home track on Wednesday.

With two recent runs under his belt, Overpass had fitness and race experience over some of his rivals and was strong to the line for Josh Parr to score a length and a quarter win over high priced first starter Greater Harlem, a $1.15 million colt by Hinchinbrook.

“He’s a promising colt and every time we ask him, he keeps raising the bar,” said stable representative Stephen McLean.

A $75,000 Inglis Easter Round 2 purchase for Darby Racing / Will Johnson Bloodstock from the Corumbene Stud draft, Overpass is well on his way to winning back his purchase price after just three starts.

He was bred by Corumbene and is the fourth winner from four to race from Exceed and Excel mare Walkway who comes from the family of Australian Horse of the Year Northerly.

Vancouver

Vancouver has sired 35 winners of over $2million in prizemoney this season highlighted by stakes-winners Yaletown and Night Raid with Coolmore pricing him at $22,000 for this spring.
