Third in the Group III BRC Grand Prix (2200m) last December, promising Dundeel filly Atonement will be heading back to Queensland for a crack at the Group I BRC Queensland Oaks after scoring a good tough win at Hawkesbury on Tuesday.
Second up from a spell in the 1800m class one handicap, the Matthew Smith trained Atonement led all the way and ran the trip right out to win by half a length in a determined performance with Kathy O’Hara in the saddle.

A $130,000 Inglis Classic purchase for her trainer from the Arrowfield draft, Atonement is the best of three winners from Petworth House, a half-sister by Encosta de Lago to stakes-winner Theanswermyfriend.
Her female family features top class European bloodlines and includes Group I winners Moonstone and Cerulean Sky as well as high class stayers Honolulu and Master of Reality.
Arrowfield Stud sold the yearling full brother to Atonement for $200,000 at Inglis Easter this year to Ellerton Zahra Racing Pty Ltd.
Dundeel has sired the winners of over $6million this season highlighted by four stakes-winners including Group I winner Truly Great and Group II winning filly Victoria Quays.
His fee for this spring is set at $66,000.
