14th Winner for Capitalist

Tara Madgwick - Friday May 14

The Lindsay Park team delivered the 14th first crop winner for Capitalist at Albury on Friday when red hot favourite Alcudia ran out an easy winner at Albury.

Having her second race start and taking on older maidens over 1175m, Alcudia powered to the line to win by a length and a half.

Retained to race by her breeders, Alcudia is a half-sister to stakes-winner Vinicunca and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from good producer Xandretta, a half-sister by Flying Spur to Group I winner Carry on Cutie from the family of Group I winning 2YO The Mission, both of those Group I winners claiming the ATC Champagne Stakes.

Xandretta has a Deep Field filly that was sold at Magic Millions this year for $520,000 to Black Soil Bloodstock/John Foote Bloodstock/Gollan Racing, the same group having also purchased Deep Field’s brilliant stakes-winner Isotope.

Xandretta is back in foal to Deep Field after missing the year before.

Capitalist will stand at $99,000 this spring.

Alcudia is winner number 14 for Capitalist, who is the leading first crop sire and overall 2YO sire, the son of Written Tycoon to stands at $99,000 for Newgate Farm this spring.
