$1.9 Million for Volpe Veloce

Tara Madgwick - Thursday May 27

A $675,000 investment at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale last year for Newgate Farm on Group I winning mare Volpe Veloce paid big dividends at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on Thursday when the daughter of Foxwedge sold for $1.9million.

Volpe Veloce sold for $1.9 million.

Offered in the Newgate Consignment in foal to I Am Invincible in her first season at stud, Volpe Veloce was bought by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock (FBAA)/Longwood Thoroughbred Farm/Peter Morgan, so will join the long line of superior mares headed back to Victoria after this sale.

Bred originally by Nick Vass, Volpe Veloce was foaled and raised at Newgate and was from the first crop of Newgate Farm’s foundation sire Foxwedge.

She was sold as a weanling by Newgate at the 2014 Magic Millions National Sale for $120,000 to renowned New Zealand based pinhookers Lyndhurst Farm and was then re-offered in their draft at Karaka selling for $240,000 to Richardson Racing.

She was an immediate success winning her first seven races in a row and went on to win the Group I ARC Railway Stakes (1200m) among her seven stakes victories and retired with earnings in excess of $600,000.

Volpe Veloce is that rare thoroughbred that has made money for everyone ever involved with her and she will undoubtedly become a most valuable asset for her new owner Michael Christian and his team at Longwood Thoroughbred Farm.
