Another Juvenile Winner for Fastnet Rock

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday July 20

Champion sire Fastnet Rock has had a productive season with his two year-olds adding a tenth juvenile winner to the tally on Tuesday when talented filly Testa Rock overcame appalling conditions to salute at Ballarat.

The Lindsay Park trained filly faced sheeting rain and freezing temperatures for her second start, but put a brave face on despite a wide barrier adding to her woes.

Allowed to find her feet by Josh Richards, Testa Rock gradually made her way past the field and forged clear at the finish to win by three lengths, atoning for her narrow defeat on debut last month.

A $500,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Baramul Stud draft for Lindsay Park Racing/Andrew Williams Bloodstock, Testa Rock is the first winner from Group II placed Samartested, a half-sister to dual Group I winner Samaready, the dam of Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner and $2.4million earner Exhilarates.

Samartested has a weanling filly by Exceed and Excel and went to Written Tycoon last spring.

Testa Rock is the tenth Aussie 2YO winner this season for Fastnet Rock, who has sired juvenile stakes-winners O’President, Acrobat and Sneaky Five.

The champion son of Danehill stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $165,000.

Fastnet Rock has had a great season with his 2YO's.
