Golden Rose field and barrier draw

Clinton Payne - Wednesday September 20

A field of 14 of the best three-year-olds in the land have been assembled to contest the $1 million Group I Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Which three-year-old will bloom in Saturday's $1 million Group I Golden Rose?

The set weights contest has quickly become one of the most prized three-year-old races in Australia since first run in 2005.

The field consists of 12 colts and geldings and two fillies, Formality and Champagne Cuddles - attempting to join Forensics as the only female winners of the race.

Pre-field favourite Menari draw awkwardly in barrier 11 while the top Victorian colt Merchant Navy fared better coming up with barrier 2.

Trainers James Cummings and Peter and Paul Snowden didn't accept with Kementari and Invader, electing to send those colts south to contest the Caulfield Guineas Prelude on Saturday week.
