Star Worthy Cause Filly Transferred to Chris Waller

Tara Madgwick - Sunday August 8

The best offspring to date for Queensland’s champion first crop sire last season Worthy Cause, exciting filly Hinged will be given her opportunity to compete against the best fillies this spring with news she is set to join the stable of Chris Waller.

A homebred for Dr Kim McCasker trained by Michael Nolan, Hinged had a busy and successful two year-old season with five wins and two seconds from seven starts netting nearly $270,000 in prizemoney.

Hinged was headed for a spell after winning her last start on July 24, however a southern ownership syndicate, including prominent owner Brae Sokolski, made an offer to McCasker which was accepted and Hinged has now been transferred to Waller in Sydney.

Hinged is likely to race for the first time for Waller in the Group III Ming Dynasty (1400m) in Sydney on August 28 and holds entries for the Group I ATC Flight Stakes and Thousand Guineas.

Her previous trainer Michael Nolan believes she has a bright future and will get over ground as her career unfolds.

“I think Hinged will stay, she would get 2000(m) tomorrow and I think there is every chance she will get 2400(m) and she could measure up as an Oaks horse next year for sure,” Nolan told Racenet.

“Not many two-year-olds can do what she did in a short period of time.

“She went through the grades so quickly and just kept improving.

“Her latest win in town (by 3.75 lengths at Doomben on July 24) was just so effortless for her.

“I am positive that she has got a very bright future.”

Hinged is the first foal of Tints, a very handy racemare by Tycoon Ruler that won 12 races and over $246,000 in prizemoney with her wins coming up to 2150m.

The grand-dam of Tints won over 2000m at Chantilly and is a sibling to three European stakes-winners that all won over 2000m or further.

Tints has a rising two year-old filly by Worthy Cause and is back in foal again to the young Clear Mountain Fairview based sire.

A Group III winning son of Choisir, Worthy Cause has done a great job with his first runners from limited numbers producing five winners from seven starters with Hinged his best performer.

Worthy Cause stands at a fee of $5,500 alongside Jabali, Wanted and Love Conquers All.
