Heroic Trial Winner

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday September 15

Raheen Stud have a lot of faith in their young Fastnet Rock stallion Heroic Valour and as a Group I winning two year-old it was no surprise to see him post a stylish trial winner at Doomben earlier this week.

Trained by Peter and Will Hulbert at Eagle Farm, two year-old colt Heroic Son gave notice of better things to come with a good trial performance that was the quickest of the day clocking 51.29 seconds.

He jumped quickly, but was restrained to take a sit behind the leaders and then accelerated nicely to score a three-quarter length win eased down on the line to beat Schmeichel, a $1.1 million Not a Single Doubt colt trained by Kacy Fogden.

Heroic Son was a $50,000 Magic Millions Book 2  purchase for his trainers from the Kenmore Lodge draft and is the first foal from Pirelli Princess, a winning daughter of stakes-winner Princess Margaret and half-sister to the dam of stakes-winner Over Exposure.

Heroic Son was a $50,000 Magic Millions Book 2 purchase.

Heroic Valour has received good opportunity covering over 300 mares in his first three seasons and strong results at the sales earlier this year has ensured ongoing support this spring.

Heroic Valour had four yearlings average $102,500 at the Magic Millions Book 2 Yearling Sale and across the board he had 40 yearlings sell at an average just shy of $50,000, a fabulous return on his $7,700 service fee.

Already 22 of his two year-olds have been named indicating their connections are keen to get up and running!

Given the track record of success for Fastnet Rock sire sons, who include the likes of much missed Hinchinbrook as well as proven Group I sires Smart Missile and Foxwedge there is every reason for optimism as regards Heroic Valour.

Heroic Valour is a G1 2YO winner by Fastnet Rock.

Heroic Valour stands at $7,700 this spring.
