Close Second for First Runner for Supido

Tara Madgwick - Sunday October 10

Widden Stud’s young Sebring stallion Supido didn’t quite get the perfect start to his stud career, but he did go close with his talented gelding Kosta’s Crown finishing second in the $70,000 WATC Amelia Park Plate (1000m) at Ascot on Saturday.

The first two year-old race of the season in Western Australia featured a field of nine with Kosta’s Crown well fancied after winning his two previous trials.

Kosta’s Crown was a little slow to muster speed from barrier one and found himself back behind the three tearaway leaders and inside of the eventual winner Pot Shot, a daughter of Demerit.

Trained by Sean and Jake Casey, Kosta’s Crown found the line well, but could not quite catch Pot Shot failing by three-quarters of a length.

Kosta's Crown was a $90,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

A $90,000 Inglis Classic Highway Session purchase for Yenrise Pty Ltd from the Byerley Stud draft, Kosta’s Crown is the first foal from Maldicion, a winning Domesday mare from the family of Group II winner and sire Magic Albert.

Kosta’s Crown is the very first runner for Supido, a brilliantly fast Group I placed Group III winning sprinter by Sebring.

Supido is a Premium stallion, click for more information.
Supido has been well supported covering over 300 mares in his first three seasons and stands at a fee of $8,800 this spring.
