Second Win for Promising American Pharoah Filly

Tara Madgwick - Monday November 15

The powerful Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable were in the winner’s circle at Scone on Monday when promising American Pharoah (USA) filly Wenet scored her second win.

A last start winner at Scone on October 22, Wenet lugged 60kg to victory in the 1300m fillies and mares event leading all the way to win by three-quarters of a length as favourite.

Wenet is on an upswing this preparation and with two wins from five starts there should be more to come.

A $100,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Rothwell Park Thoroughbreds draft for her trainers, Wenet is the first winner for Whitula, a placed half-sister to Group I winner Headway and this season’s stakes-winning three year-old Mazu.

American Pharoah is finishing off his fifth season at Coolmore Australia standing at a fee of $49,500.

American Pharoah has been in hot form this year siring 15 stakes-winners since January 1 headed by his Japanese Group I winner Café Pharoah and including his Australian Group III winner Head of State..
