Williams Racing Stable Expansion

Media Release - Monday November 29

Last Saturday’s Day 2 of the Ascot Masters saw Team Williams dominate yet again with Graceful Girl taking out the G1 Crown Winterbottom Stakes in barnstorming fashion.

This followed on from Western Empire’s crushing victory in the G1 Railway Stakes, the stables 5th and 4th in a row in WA’s premier race and Treasured Star’s dominate win in the G2 WA Guineas on Day 1 of the Ascot Masters.

Grant and Alana Williams would today like to share some exciting developments to Williams Racing’s strategic operating model in 2022.

From January 2022, Williams Racing will be refocusing their stable client structure to welcome the opportunity for new owners to be a part of one of Australia’s most successful racing stables of the last decade.

Previously the Williams Racing stable has predominantly trained for one client, Peters Investments, who’s horses have enjoyed incredible and sustained success.

However, Grant and Alana now believe the time is right to change direction with their stable to allow a more diverse client base to enjoy the thrill of racing their horses under the Williams Racing banner.

Grant commented, “ While we will continue to train horses for Peters Investments, we are cognizant of the need to broaden our ownership base now and into the future. The racing industry is consistently growing and evolving and we need to continue to develop our business model so as to provide a strong platform for continued success."

Alana went on to comment, “ I love what I do and I’m excited for what the future holds for both Grant and myself. I still enjoy riding work and feel the unique dynamic Grant and I have of me on the horses and him running operations on the ground, gives us that special edge which most training operations don’t have.”

Since the formation of their training partnership in 2014, Grant and Alana have trained nearly 600 winners, at an astonishing strike rate of 26.4%.

This places them clearly amongst the most elite trainers in Australia. Significantly, they have trained 40 group winners and 38 listed winners during this period at a industry leading strike rate of 19.3%.

Attention to detail, providing outstanding training facilities and an uncompromising commitment to get the best out of every horse, have been the cornerstones of this sustained success.

Elite Group 1 performers Arcadia Queen, Delicacy, Elite Belle, Celebrity Queen Regal Power and Western Empire have been stables stars and household names, helping Grant and Alana on the way to winning some of Australia’s premier Group 1 races. Some of these wins include The 5 Million Dollar All Star Mile, McKinnon Stakes, Oakleigh Plate, Railway Stakes (5 times), Kingston Town Stakes (3 times), Australasian Oaks, SA Derby, WA Oaks (7 times) WA Derby (9 times) WA Champion Fillies (5 times) and Perth Cup (3 times).

As a part of Grant and Alana’s commitment to future success, Williams Racing will be opening a boutique Melbourne satellite stable to compliment their Perth operation.

Having already had substantial experience and success racing horses in Victoria, they believe the opening of a Melbourne stable will allow their horses to maximise the opportunity to race and win at the elite level and give their owners the best opportunity to tap into the wonderful prize money racing horses in Victoria offers.

Grant and Alana will be active buying yearlings at all of the major 2022 Yearling Sales.

There will be extensive opportunities for new clients to purchase shares in yearlings which will help build the foundation of future success.

There will be further announcements in the coming weeks on how you can become involved in racing a horse with Williams Racing. Grant and Alana are excited about the future of Williams Racing and the Australian Racing Industry.

They are committed to their passion of caring and training thoroughbreds to reach their full potential on the track and to give their owners the positive and enjoyable experience they deserve.
