Who Will Wear the Tiara?

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 23

Worth $700,000, the Tatts Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm this Saturday is the last Group I of the Australian racing season and traditionally produces a great contest with high class mares looking to head off to stud as Group I winners.

This year there are two Group I winners engaged in Snapdancer (Choisir) and Shout the Bar (Not a Single Doubt), who changed hands at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $2.7million when bought by Tom Magnier.

Shout the Bar was bought by Tom Magnier for $2.7million.

The remainder of the field are chasing that elusive G1 win with Away Game (Snitzel), another high profile purchase from the sales having sold for $4million at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when bought by Yulong.

Star Thoroughbreds owned Zoustar mare Kiku comes into the race as a last start and will be looking to enhance her value in the same way Invincibella did in 2019.

She was also owned by Star Thoroughbreds and trained by Chris Waller with her G1 Tiara win putting the cherry on top of a very successful career.

The G1 Tatts Tiara was a career highlight for Invincibella, can Kiku repeat the performance?

Invincibella was bought by Tom Magnier for $1.3million at the 2020 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale and produced a filly by Justify (USA) for Coolmore last spring and is now in foal to Wootton Bassett (GB).

Below is the list of past winners of the Tatts Tiara, the race was not eun in 2020 due to Covid.
