Aussie Success South Africa, G3 Winner and Rising Star

The Turffontein meeting in South Africa on Saturday produced two Aussie bred winners with Alfolk capturing the Group III Lebelo Sprint, while royally bred Street Cry (IRE) colt Mutrib won on debut to become the sixth winner from six to race from blue hen Dane Belltar.

Alfolk as a yearlingA three time winner and stakes-placed twice previously, the Mike de Kock trained three year-old Lonhro gelding Alfolk soared to a new level when winning this 1000 metre sprint by a lengh and a quarter beating older horses.

A $380,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Sledmere Stud draft for Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell Stud , Alfolk is the best of two winners from Alteza Real, a three-quarter sister by Exceed and Excel to Group I winner Shinzig and stakes-winner Strada from Group I STC Coolmore Classic winner Shindig.

Alteza Real has no yearling for the sales this year but delivered a Vancouver colt in August.

Alfolk is the 70th stakes-winner for Darley's champion sire Lonhro , who has just four entries for Magic Millions.

Mutrib as a yearlingOpening his account with a resounding two and three-quarter length win in the 1400 metre maiden for the Mike de Kock stable was three year-old Street Cry (IRE) colt Mutrib.

A $300,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum from the Mill Park draft, Mutrib is a half-brother to triple Group I winner and $3.8 million earner Fawkner, Group II winner and $1.1 million earner Tanby and Group II placed Viking Star being the sixth winner from renowned producer Dane Belltar.

Mill Park will offer the current yearling from Dane Belltar, a filly by Shooting to Win as Lot 651 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale and she is pictured below.
