First Winner a Stakes-Winner for Eurozone

Tara Madgwick - Sunday March 4
Newgate Farm's promising young Northern Meteor son Eurozone broke the ice for his first winner at Morphettville on Saturday and did it in style with talented filly Krone taking out the Listed SAJC Cinderella Stakes.

Placed at her first two starts at Moonee Valley and Bendigo last month, the Darren Weir trained filly had race fitness and experience on her side for this tougher Black Type assignment.

Krone as a yearlingShe settled last in the field of seven and zoomed to the line to win the 1050 metre scamper by a length to give young rider Justin Huxtable his first stakes win.

Krone is a sale ring veteran and has made money for everyone associated with her.

She was bred by Bell View Park Stud in partnership and first sold by them as a weanling at the Magic Millions, where she was pinhooked by Rae Louise Charlton of Fernrigg Farm for $30,000.

Re-offered at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale by Widden Stud as agent for Rae Louise, Krone was bought by Rosemont Stud for $60,000.

Rosemont then re-offered her at the Magic Millions 2YO's in Training Sale where she fetched $120,000 to the bid of Roll the Dice Racing, who now have a very nice stakes-winning filly for their owners with Rosemont electing to keep a share.

Krone is the second winner for Soft Landing, a half-sister by Al Maher to Group I winners Universal Prince and Universal Queen.

EurozoneBell View Park sold Soft Landing at the 2016 Inglis Broodmare Sale for $50,000 and her current yearling, another filly by Eurozone will be offered at Magic Millions Adelaide by Krisnat Park as Lot 201.

Soft Landing was covered last spring by another son of Northern Meteor in Fighting Sun.

A brilliant Group II winner, who was only just beaten at Group I level, Eurozone is the third son of Northern Meteor to sire a winner joining Zoustar and Fighting Sun.

Eurozone has four entries for Inglis Premier and six for Magic Millions Adelaide.
