Two Stakes-Winners in a Week for Universal Ruler

Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 22
WA based Universal Ruler sired his second stakes-winner of the week when Abdicator took out the Listed Rangeview Stud Classic at Bunbury on Wednesday.

The Darren Mcauliffe-trained gelding scored am easy length and a half win over All Too Hard filly Fine Scent in the 1400 metre sprint.

Universal RulerNot offered at auction, Abdicator has won four of eight starts and is the fourth stakes-winner for Universal Ruler, a Group III winning son of Scenic (IRE) that stands at Scenic Lodge.

He is the first winner for Royal Escape, a minor winning Royal Academy (USA) grand-daughter of Group II winner Constant Flight.

The success of Abdicator follows on from a brilliant debut win last Saturday at Ascot for Universal Ruler's two year-old daughter Lady Cosmology in the Listed WATC Supremacy Stakes.

The Simon Miller trained filly scored a dominant two length win and looks a star on the rise.

Universal Ruler covered just 23 mares last spring at a fee of $3,850.
