$750,000 Per Incanto Colt Tops NZB Ready to Run Day 1

Media Release - Wednesday November 12

Day One of NZB’s 2025 Ready to Run Sale delivered strong results across the board with the aggregate reaching $19,232,000 for 119 lots sold, and the median climbing 33% to an impressive $120,000.

The top two lots of the day were both purchased by Lindsay Park on behalf of China’s Mr Sanxiong Gao. Lot 214, a son of Per Incanto, topped the proceedings when purchased for $750,000 from Kiltannon Stables’ draft. While Lot 105, a colt by Satono Aladdin, was secured for $675,000 from Riversley Park’s draft.

$750,000 Per Incanto (USA) colt from Aleria.

“We’re pleased to see these horses going to quality stables,” commented Kiltannon Stables’ Mark Forbes after selling the top-priced lot during the opening session.

“I actually worked for David Hayes years ago, when Sir Patrick (Hogan) sent me over there, and I lived with James Cummings when he was over at Cambridge Stud for six months. So it’s nice to have those connections.”

“It’s the best draft we’ve ever brought up here and we have horses for every buyer. We know there is diversity in this market and we deliberately selected our draft with that in mind,” he added.

Hong Kong trainer David Hayes purchased both top lots on behalf of Mr Gao, a new stable client.

“He asked if I could come down and pick a few horses out that would be suitable for Hong Kong. He’s got deep pockets, and said just try and find the ones you want, don’t worry about the budget. That’s music to a trainer’s ears.”

“With the help of Dean Hawthorne, Josh Rix and JD (Hayes), Dean found about 30 horses for us to have a look at and these two were our favourites.”

“These horses will go back to Lindsay Park, as Ka Ying Rising did from New Zealand, and be assessed with the most suitable one going to Hong Kong. The other one will race in Australia with the boys,” he added.

NZB’s Managing Director Andrew Seabrook was pleased with the opening session.

“The key statistic from today is the median being up from $90,000 to $120,000, which suggests the middle market is as strong as ever.”

“It is fantastic to see all of the major markets off to a strong start, particularly the Australian spend which is ahead of last year at this stage, and mainland China, which is a great result for the wider industry.”

“It was also great to see New Zealand stallions siring the two top lots today, which will give pinhookers more confidence to have a crack at some of those yearlings here in January.”

“There is plenty more money to come tomorrow so we are looking forward to another blockbuster session to close off what has been a great start to the Sale. And credit to our vendors, they are the best in the world.”
