Foxplay Sold to Yulong

Media Release - Thursday July 12
Quality four year old Group 1 winning mare Foxplay has been sold by her original ownership group to the international racing and breeding operation, Yulong Investments.

FoxplayThe daughter of Newgate Farm's resident stallion Foxwedge, the filly was originally purchased at the 2015 Magic Millions sale by Star Thoroughbreds for $160,000 from the Newgate Farm draft.

Raced by an all ladies partnership in the purple and white Star colours, Foxplay achieved great success through the spring of her three year old year winning both the 2016 Group II Furious Stakes and the 2016 Group  II Tea Rose Stakes ensuring that she was the recipient of the prestigious Princess Series award in NSW for 3 year old fillies.

The autumn of 2017 saw Foxplay win the Group II Phar Lap Stakes for both sex three year olds. However two starts later her "career defining moment" arrived when the filly won the Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes at Randwick (raced as the Coolmore Legacy Stakes) against a large field of high quality mares.

Thanks for the memories - FoxplayOn returning to racing in the spring of 2017, Foxplay almost achieved "the impossible" in nearly holding out the great Winx in the Group II Warwick Stakes at Randwick.

The very narrow margin of the defeat (0.2) will long be remembered by the Foxplay owners as their mare ran a hugely gallant 2nd, to one of the greatest ever to race, Winx.

With 5 career wins, including 4 at stakes level, Foxplay earned for her all ladies ownership group $1.425 million in prize money.

Star Thoroughbreds and the Foxplay original ownership group wish to thank Chris Waller and his team for many wonderful memories with our great mare and extend to the new owners good wishes for great success with her in the years to come.
