Theanswermyfriend(High Chaparral), who cost $70,000 at the 2015 Premier Sale, took his earnings to the brink of A$500,000 with victory in Saturday's A$100,000 Listed Penny Edition Stakes (1400m) at Morphettville.

With Harry Coffey in the saddle, he held on strongly to beat the last-start Group 2 P.B. Lawrence Stakes (1400m) placegetterWidgee Turf(Turffontein) by a neck.

"I tell you what, when this horse gets his way in front he's extremely hard to get past," Coffey said.

Theanswermyfriend has now had 23 starts for seven wins, seven placings and A$498,525 in prize-money – almost eight times his purchase price.

The Penny Edition was his second stakes win, having previously captured the Listed Sofitel (1400m) at Flemington.

Theanswermyfriend is part-owned by All Blacks coach Steve Hansen, in partnership with Mr R A E Lyons, Mr P D Harrison, Mr P N Kean, Mr G L Smith, Mr J P Van Duuren, Mr I Roberts and Mr G K Roberts.
