Inglis Nursery a must watch for an autumn lead

Craig Tompson - Thursday December 13
Saturday's $500,000 Inglis Nursery at Randwick has produced two Golden Slipper winners and a Blue Diamond winner in the last five years so is obviously a race which should be watched closely this week.

Strasbourg is favourite for the Inglis Nursery this weekend at RandwickRestricted to horses sold at Inglis Yearling Sales, the timing is perfect for the start of an ambitious autumn campaign for a baby and so it proved in 2013 when Mossfun kicked off her career before taking the Widden Stakes (Gr.3) and Silver Slipper Stakes (Gr.2) before her memorable win in the Golden Slipper.

In 2015 Extreme Choice made his debut in the race before winning at Group 3 level and then taking the Blue Diamond Stakes.

Then the following year, 2016, She Will Reign had her second start in winning the Nursery before also winning the Silver Slipper on her way to her Golden Slipper triumph.

In nine years, the race has only been won once by a horse at double figure odds so isn't one noted for a shock result and the favoured runners this year hold plenty of interest.

Probably not surprisingly I Am Invincible has the two favourites in the Snowden trained pair Strasbourg and Enforcement.

Strasbourg (I Am invincible x Danish Spy), a $750,000 Easter purchase is coming off a most impressive win in the Max Lees Classic at Newcastle on debut while Enforcement (I Am Invincible x Express Power), a $360,000 Easter buy is on debut but has trialled stylishly.

Another interesting runner is Accession (Brazen Beau x Ready As Elle), a $300,000 Easter buy for Star Thoroughbreds and coming off a solid debut second where he was a little green.

Darley's first season sire Brazen Beau already has the current Golden Slipper favourite in the brilliant debut winner Tassort.

A win for Accession, currently a $9.50 chance, is going to see the Brazen Beau supporters very pleased with themselves, if they aren't already.
