Aussie Success in South Africa

Tara Madgwick - Sunday March 3
The Group III Acacia Handicap at Turffontein on Saturday was won in good style by High Chaparral (IRE) mare High Seas Beauty, while the maiden event on the same program was won by Belton Road, who has a half-brother to be offered at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale on Monday.

High Seas Beauty is the 127th stakes-winner for High ChaparralYet another stakes-winner bred by Fairway Thoroughbreds, five year old mare High Seas Beauty scored an easy win in the 1600 metre Acacia Handicap for the Dianne Stenger stable.

It was her fifth win from 18 starts, but first in a Black Type race.

A $75,000 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale purchase from the Segenhoe Stud draft for Kerry Jack Bloodstock, High Seas Beauty is the first winner for Attessa, a half-sister by Belong to Me (USA) to Aussie bred South African Group II winner Delta Form from dual Group I winning filly Arborea.

This family has been in the news in recent years as Arborea is also the grand-dam of stakes-winner Tai Tai Tess, who has had two colts by I Am Invincible sell at Magic Millions in the past two years for more than $1million.

Sold for $8,000 at the Inglis Broodmare Sale in 2016, Attessa is now with Tara Farm in Victoria and was covered by High Chaparral's star son Toronado (IRE) last spring so will produce a three-quarter sibling to High Seas Beauty later this year.

Opening his account with an easy win in the 1160 metre maiden for the Mike de Kock stable was three year-old All Too Hard gelding Belton Road, a $30,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Makybe draft for Form Bloodstock.

Two Bays Farm as agent for Makybe will offer the current yearling from Life in a Metro, a colt by Vancouver, as Lot 271 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale on Monday and he is pictured below.

Also winning her second race at Durbanville from just five starts was Fastnet Rock filly Waldorf Astoria, a $260,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the draft of Rushton Park. She is the first foal of Group III winning Artie Schiller (USA) mare Lady Melksham, who is also the dam of this season's handy two year-old Avon River, another Fastnet Rock filly that was fourth in the recent $2million Inglis Millennium.

Lady Melksham is in foal to Newgate Farm young gun Russian Revolution.
