Invincible Blueblood Bolts In

Tara Madgwick - Thursday April 25
The two year-old fillies maiden at Randwick on ANZAC Day featured an outstanding selection of blue-blooded fillies with Gerry Harvey's homebred Libertini triumphant by a space.

The Anthony Cummings trained filly finished second on debut to smart colt Bivouac in the Group III ATC Kindergarten Stakes when she was slowly away, so went to the post a firm favourite for this much easier race.

I Am Invincible is the sire of exciting filly LibertiniEased back from the start by Kerrin McEvoy after jumping from the outside gate, Libertini travelled deep throughout and surged to the line over the final furlong to drop her rivals cold and race clear to win the 1200 metre maiden by more than three lengths in a slick 1:08.78.

Best of the rest was $1,050,000 Inglis Easter Snitzel filly Akari (a half-sister to current Japanese G1 winner Aeorlinthe) followed by Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy's close relation Tracy May, a $650,000 Magic Millions purchase and then Dorothy of Oz, a Redoute's Choice daughter of Champion NZ 3YO Princess Coup.

Libertini also fits the profile as a blueblood being the third winner from three foals to race from Group I ATC Coolmore Classic winner Aloha, a half-sister by Encosta de Lago to the dam of Group II winner My Emotion. This is the famed 'Tennessee' that has also produced recent Group I winners Seabrook and Malaguerra.

Connections may now look towards the Black Type juvenile race for fillies at Scone next month, but ultimately will be focusing on the major fillies events in the spring.

Gerry Harvey will be pleased to see Libertini show so much ability as Aloha has a weanling filly by I Am Invincible to follow and is back in foal to him again.

Libertini is the 16th two year-old winner of the season for Yarraman Park's superstar sire I Am Invincible.
